Recently, the rejection of a famous influencer's QMAS application has led many to rethink: Is the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme the only way to obtain a Hong Kong identity? The reality is not so. Hong Kong's talent admission system has multiple parallel channels, each with completely different thresholds and target groups. Finding the path that best fits your profile is the first step to a successful application.
1、Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS)
Category A: Personal compliant income ≥ HKD 2.5 million in the year prior to application, no strict academic requirements, suitable for high-income business owners and executives;
Category B: Bachelor's degree from a world top 100 university with at least 3 years of work experience;
Category C: Bachelor's degree from a top 100 university with less than 3 years of work experience, subject to an annual quota.
Advantages: Fast approval speed, granted a 36-month visa directly upon approval. Important reminder: Subsequent renewals require proof of genuine business or employment ties with Hong Kong; obtaining the visa does not mean everything is settled.
2、Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS)
The 2026 new policy implements a "6 out of 12" assessment criterion. The General Points Test usually requires at least a bachelor's degree. It is suitable for professionals with good academic backgrounds and industry experience who do not yet have a Hong Kong employer. Note: Meeting the submission criteria does not guarantee 100% approval. The review comprehensively evaluates the value of the contribution to Hong Kong, and the review standards have continued to tighten in recent years.
3、Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP)
Applications must be submitted by a genuine and compliant Hong Kong employer. The position must match the applicant's resume. No points system is required.
⚠️ Major Risk Warning: So-called "shell companies" or "fake employment" in the market cross the red line of the "Immigration Ordinance." Once verified, the visa will be revoked, and a bad record will be left. Do not try it. The visa is tied to the employer; leaving the job will directly affect the validity of the visa.
4、Study + IANG Visa
Apply for a full-time accredited course in Hong Kong and obtain a student visa. After graduation, there is no need to obtain a job offer in advance to apply for the IANG unconditional stay visa, allowing for free job seeking or entrepreneurship. It is more inclusive of previous academic qualifications and suitable for applicants with ordinary backgrounds, but requires tuition and time costs. After completion, a renewal path still needs to be planned to accumulate 7 years for permanent residency.
There is no "best" project, only the one that best fits your personal conditions. Don't just follow the crowd because you see others getting QMAS approval. Prioritize reviewing your education, income, and time budget before determining the application direction.
